Systems Design Tabletop Game Design

A short problem-solving exercise with a focus on systems design and gamefeel. I loved the card game, but felt there wasn’t true parity between the different card types and drafting strategies. I wanted to find subtle tweaks and changes that wouldn’t change the identity or feel of the game, while broadening the decision space during drafting.

Problematic cards and ineffective strategies were collated, and modifications for each were tested. Through playtesting, I evaluated whether the changes led to positive or negative shifts in game dynamics, and responded accordingly. Once I had a changelog I was happy with, I tested the entire list to grasp their cumulative effect.
