A 4 week project based on the prompt “make a single-player legacy game.” I wanted to make something a little more abstract, closer to the art-game spectrum. While researching and ideating, I rediscovered the idea of Dunbar’s Number. The idea of having so many things you want to hold on to, but only so much bandwidth resonated with me. I wanted to make a game that led players to some of the same considerations. Something that broke out of the confines of the table, and affected the human sitting there.
I worked in a small 3-person team as the project lead and producer. I pitched the project, and organized the work schedule and initial design goals. After finding our central motif, I collaborated with my team members to rigorously critique and shape the decks and prompts. After finalizing the systems and ruleset, the team worked together to create a visual language and style that matched our design goals, without detracting from the contemplative play experience.
